In 1888 Spyros Metaxa creates, possibly, the smoothest amber spirit under the Sun. Ever since, the art of wine-making, distilling, ageing and blending creates the unique brandy METAXA.
It is made of raisins (sultanina, savatiano and mavri korinthiaki). Before flavoring with a secret mixture of herbs, which includes rose petals and distilled water, it matures in handmade french Limousin oak barrels. It is bright, amber in color, with bronze shades.
Nose: Aromas of aged wine from muscat grapes from Samos and Lemnos. Dense with high intensity from dried flowers and herbs.
Taste: It offers an extremely complex character, with notes of butter, chocolate and orange peel. Coffee, butter candy and chocolate are combined with flavors of dried plum and orange peel.
Aftertaste: It is rich, savory and with liquorice notes.
